Paris and Vin should read Neil Gaiman’s Journal
So, the word on the street tells me that Paris Hilton’s voicemail got hacked as well as the contents of her Sidekick II.
I must point out that Neil Gaiman wrote about the auto-login to voicemail hack on his journal after linking to an article about MirrorMask on G4TechTV’s website. He noticed an article on the site about this T-Mobile hack and tested it out for himself. He then urged his readers to set passwords and turn off auto-login.
The person looking to hack into a voicemail account needs only to know the phone number and have access to software that spoofs the phone number he’s calling from. Once the spoof is set up, he needs only to dial the victim’s number. If auto-login is set up, he’s got free access to whatever voicemails are left in the system.
I guess Paris and Vin don’t read Neil Gaiman’s Journal, then?
